"The Remedy" is that moment when you realize the passion has vanished - from an argument, a relationship - when it's become all heat and no light. It's the moment of acceptance after the initial shock of the string slipping through your fingers and the balloons floating away. Loss isn't pain - it's emptiness. There's honesty in that moment and you see the whole thing from above, from outside yourself, and you can speak plainly and without malice. You find in that space suddenly a new opening, a new future, a new timeline… so this moment also contains the first ray of hope.
lyrics
All your promises fall way too short
And all your apologies are way too long
You forgot to say what you think about me
You forgot to say the remedy
So now, how am I supposed to be the same way?
Strange how this chemistry just dissolves away
All my boundaries, my point of view
I forgot to be what I called myself
I forgot it, and then I lost it
Sonic Youth is one of those bands where you easily run out of superlatives to describe what they created. This could've easily come off as a cynical cash-grab by a band that had broken up 11 years prior to the release of this record, but that's not what this is. Some of my favourite Sonic Youth instrumentals. sentient meat
More ambient and exploratory than their motorik-heavy debut, Dummy continues to evolve into a more confident band with its own distinct creative vision on EP2. Admo
Dummy comes out of the gate swinging. Traces of 90s heroes such as Stereolab and Lilys, 70s krautrock staples Neu! and Cluster, all combined with a distinct melodic sensibility elevate this all-too-brief EP. Admo
